Julie Allan set up the firm in March 2011, with the aim of providing high quality accountancy and taxation advice at an affordable price.
What was your experience before JLA Accounting?
I trained and qualified with the Newcastle office of PricewaterhouseCoopers, the largest professional services firm in the world. I then took the opportunity to travel and worked as an accountant in the banking sector in Sydney, Australia. Upon returning to the UK, I then worked in a medium sized firm in Darlington for five years, gaining experience in the SME sector.
Why JLA Accounting?
I started my own accountancy practice to enable me to offer a high quality service to clients at an affordable price.
What local networking do you recommend?
I volunteer for The Inspire Network, a network of North East women entrepreneurs. I enjoy attending the Darlington monthly meetings, held at Business Central Darlington which regularly see up to thirty attendees getting together to hear talks on topics such as blogging, social media, Show and Tell sessions and offer the chance to network with each other.
I also enjoy attending local Colleagues on Tap days which enable me to network with other local business people whilst also getting a days work done.
What do you enjoy doing with your time off?
I enjoy taking day trips with my family, recent outings have included Fountains Abbey, the Yorkshire Air Museum and the cinema.
